Here's a novel idea: Eliminate many of the State agencies most of us have never even heard of and that don't provide anything important (there are many) and reduce the staffs of the rest by 10 percent. We'd balance the budget in no time without extorting the public into accepting higher taxes to maintain the status-quo, and I doubt anyone would even notice they were gone!
