Call our family products of this laid back Southern California lifestyle, but this is not the first time this has happened. Once we made it all the way to the San Diego Wild Animal Park before discovering that we had only packed one shoe for our toddler, Jared! Luckily we found an extra pair of big sister’s sandals in the car that somehow fit Jared’s chubby feet. Thank goodness two year old boys think that wearing someone else’s pink flower sandals is cool.
The point of this little story, is that one of the keys to family travel is being prepared. If you are kind enough to purchase my newly released publication The Unauthorized Legoland Guidebook, be sure to check out the What to Bring section. This will save you from purchasing $14 beach towels and $3 bottles of water! Next time I stop by Legoland, I’ll have to see whether the Big Shop sells shoes. I’ll let you know what I find out.
What’s the funniest thing that you have ever forgotten to bring on vacation?
Happy Trails,

Congrats Bridget on getting the site up – I remember the wiild animal shoe incident. I think my biggest packing blunder was when we were flying across country on a red eye flight in my sleep deprived state I accidentally checked the bag with ALL the diapers. I had to find another parent on the plane and beg for diapers to make it all the way through the flight! Now flying with two we’ll have to see if I can remember everything!
This is precisely why I don’t travel. The thought of forgetting something and having to do without is nerve racking and unappealing. Did I mention my minor case of OCD? Needless to say, I rarely forget something because I’m overprepared. However, we did once forget to bring our video camera charger. Luckily, we had two regular digital cameras on hand.
Thankfully, Bridget, you can travel for the both of us!

Good luck on your budding blog! I don’t know if I have any funny things I forgot, but plenty of horror stories of being on crowded planes stuck on runways…when you need one, let me know. My theory on forgetting something, “there’s always a store where I’m going, if I need it that bad I can buy it when I get there” 9 times out of 10 I go without because it wasn’t that big of a deal.
